Understanding And Bearing

Image
UAB: The first three letters of this week’s post but also the first 3 letters of my new school, the University of Alabama-Birmingham. I’m so excited to start this new journey on August 28. This has been a transforming summer for me. I’ve rediscovered and strengthened my relationship with God. This point last year, I was a disaster! Anxiety had taken over every part of me. Fear had come in. Thoughts like “what if I don’t do well in school?”, “What about the next phase of my life?”, and many other things. I was so obsessed with making perfect grades, planning MY life for the next six to ten years. These thoughts swirled in my head for months, even into early 2017. I was trying to force things to go MY way. I got to the point that I just wanted to be isolated. I wasn’t enjoying life. In March, I started attending a college group called SUB25, part of Gardendale First Baptist Church. I felt God saying, “I am taking you here. Trust me!” I didn’t know anyone from GFBC and was very nerv...

Afternoon Darkness

Image
Monday, August 21, 2017 is a day that has been hyped for the past few weeks, months, and even years. It is the day of the total solar eclipse! It’s been a while since the last one that went through the United States, which occurred in 1979. It’s easy to assume that anyone younger than 40 did not get to see the eclipse. Stores are busy selling glasses, which have been very hard to come by. Many people, young and old, will be looking at the sky that will turn dark in the middle of the day. For those who live in Alabama, the peak time is expected to be around 1:30 in the afternoon. It’s hard to not pay attention to it because it’s not every day the sky goes dark in the middle of the day. Photo Credit: timeanddate.com This reminds me of a story in the New Testament. Many people know the story. During this story, darkness came upon the sky in the middle of the afternoon too! In Luke 23:44, it says, “It was about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoo...

Missionz With Noe

Image
I am blessed to announce a new opportunity that God has blessed me with. I'm so excited to have the opportunity to be able to serve in Kidz Kingdom at Gardendale First Baptist Church. I want to introduce “Missionz With Noe”, a new segment that will emphasize missionaries across the street and around the world. After being a part of Galactic Starveyors VBS at Gardendale First Baptist Church this past June, I wanted to find a place where I could serve God with my talents. I learned so much about teaching children about Jesus and how He wants a relationship with each and every one of us. I discovered a gift I had, the gift of being able to share my faith with kid. I didn’t want to get right into it though. I wanted to take some time to pray if this is where God was truly leading me. I pondered this and prayed about it for the rest of June and July. One Wednesday night, during our Wednesday night service, Pastor Kevin said something that struck me. “Now is the time to get up and gi...

A Back to School Prayer

Image
Photo Credit: FreeBridge Media Dear God, You are great and mighty. My heart leaps for joy when I get to serve you. I pray this special prayer over everyone who is going back to school, whether it’s teachers, students, college students, or anyone else involved in school. I pray for the students. Lord, this world is crazy and messed up. There are many different influences that come towards the students in these days. Let the ones that proclaim you as Savior and Lord of their lives not be afraid to stand up for what is right, even though it may mean they stand alone. Give them boldness, give them strength to share with their friends what You have done in their life. Let them shine like lights, and help them guard their testimony. Protect each and every student, whether it’s elementary, middle, high school, or college. Raise up a generation that will love, serve, teach, and go for You! I pray for the teachers and faculty at all the schools. I pray that you would guide them and h...
