5 Ways to Live By Faith: Highlands in Cleveland


This week's post will be short because it's actually an audio recording. This past week, I had the opportunity to speak at Highlands in Cleveland, a small group for teens in the Cleveland area. Just like any small group, there are games and activities, a time of worship, and a message. I was invited by Mrs. April and Mr. Browning to speak on a subject. God laid on my heart to talk about living by faith.

Last week I talked about my VBS experience at Gardendale First Baptist Church and talked a little about why I am so passionate about VBS. (So if you haven’t, go check out last weeks post.) Welcome to my new blog! My name is Noe Chavez and I am a student at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. I attend Gardendale First Baptist Church in the Birmingham area, where I am apart of a college group called SUB25. More importantly, I am a child of the one true, undefeated King! Watchword 2017: Opportunity

Opportunity (n): a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something. This year has flown by! I guess it is true that the older you get, the faster times seems to go. I can honestly say that 2017 has been the best year I’ve had. If I could review this entire year of my life, it might turn out to be more of a book than a blog post. I could focus on many things that happened in my life like graduating college, connecting with numerous people in my possible career field, starting school at UAB, meeting Dale Earnhardt Jr., or my many adventures. When I first started attending Gardendale on a weekly basis, one of the first sermons Pastor Kevin preached on was on a watch word. A watch word is a word that God gives you and uses it to grow you throughout the year. I deeply felt the word “opportunity” whispered into my soul.
